Syntel Previous Years Interview and Hr Interview procedure
Hi friends.. I participated in Syntel 2012 on November 12 2011 and I’ve pasted the questions below.Three questions were on each page and once you’ve selected you cannot go back to the previous so be careful before click next.Make sure that you have given the final right answer. The major problem will be time.So make sure you do it fast.Dont spend much of your time on a single question.
The results of the written test were announced after 12 days to the placement officer through mail.Only 3 from our college were shortlisted.I was one among them.323 people were only selected from the written test over all on phase 5.Then we were called for the Interview to syntel campus on December 18.
We entered at 8’o clock and they showed us the ppt and announced the interview procedure
We has three rounds
1.Group discussion
2.Technical interview
3. HR interview
Group discussion:
We were divided as a batch of twelve and the topic was “Who is more responsible in a family- either father or mother?”.Our topic was easy.Make you sure you speak at the right time.Be audible and clear in your point.Thats what they expect in you.Only 5/12 were selected in my batch in this round .This was the major elimination round according to me.
Technical interview:
Tech interview was considerably average. They asked me questions in all areas DBMS,OS,System software,Computer networks,Software engineering,Data structures etc.Questions were :
- What is Normalization?
- Explain cardinality
- Explain ACID properties
- Explain with an example all the types of sorting(Insertion, selection, bubble, merge, heap, quick).
- Explain the different OSI layers

- Explain all the normal forms in normalization
These were the questions that i remember.I was able to answer nearly 13 exactly and 2 questions i made a mess and managed. The interview was good and friendly. She was quite happy with my answers and said me ” I think you’re done and asked me to wait for my HR interview ” 🙂 . I was very relaxed and confident after this.
I had my lunch and came back at 2.45 for my HR interview
HR questions :
The HR was a bit strict but i was able to face him boldy as i was pretty confident. He asked me the following questions:
- How was your day?

Looking at my marks,he was quite impressed and appreciated as my X and XII marks were 90>? It was quite encouraging for me.Finally he asked me any questions for me,I asked him what kind of preparation should i take before joining the training incase if i’m selected and asked him when ll the results be announced. He replied me it ll b by the march.I was lil upset as i was tired of waiting for the date of interview itself
Finally, the results were announced on jan 3,2012 and luckily I got selected as the only one person from my college and i also got shortlisted in Oracle finance.I’m very happy to be a part of syntel as I was thoroughly impressed by their infrastructure and policies.Syntel was my 4th company. So guys plz dont get dejected if u dont get selected in your first chance.Learn from your mistakes and keep working hard and definitely your efforts will be rewarded. All the best guys..See you in syntel!!!!
